We specialize in creating innovative insurance programs that build climate adaptation and risk management and have active programs spanning Asia, Africa and Latin America. Our corporate clients include Nescafé, Nespresso, and Mondelez, for whom we develop crop insurance programs to protect farmers in their supply chains. In addition, we assess, design and implement insurance programs for international development organisations, including WFP and USAID. Our prospective partners include other international development organisations, multilateral and bilateral donors, foundations and large multinational companies with strong ESG/sustainability agendas.We are owned by a consortium of five leading insurance companies.

About the role

The ideal candidate will be based in Peru, but we will consider great candidates based in other Latin American countries.

We are looking to hire a Latin America Business Development Manager to increase our impact by sourcing new projects for the pipeline, working as part of our Business Development team. We are looking for someone who is passionate about building and growing partnerships with corporate clients and international development organisations, creating impact at the intersection of both the public and private sectors. The role will require developing relationships and fostering partnerships with prospective partners to explore how Blue Marble solutions can support them in achieving their climate adaptation goals, as well as working closely with the Blue Marble modelling and operations teams to develop and present concepts and proposals.

Responsibilities

Lead the Business Development activities within the region and support the global team in the following activities:

  • Sourcing, developing and defining business relationships and partnerships with both public and private sector organisations across climate and personal lines solutions
  • Developing and executing business development plans in line with the company’s three-year strategy
  • Mapping prospective partners and the most effective channels to reach them
  • Sourcing distribution opportunities with partners
  • Drafting proposals in response to RFPs and creating targeted presentations for prospective clients
  • Liaising with a variety of different potential partners in order to source and/or propose potential projects
  • Screening potential projects by analysing the needs of potential partners, internal capabilities to deliver, and funding options, for example by matching an opportunity with a donor’s agenda
  • Establishing new partnerships by coordinating requirements; developing and negotiating contracts; and integrating contract requirements with business operations
  • Documenting the business development process, leveraging existing lessons learned, to efficiently replicate at scale
  • Researching new ideas by entering industry groups and related events, publications, and announcements, including signing-up to alerts
  • Working alongside regional operational teams to support them in regional business development opportunities where needed
Education and Skills Requirements
  • 7+ years of experience in client management and/or business development
  • Insurance and/or Broker experience and networks in the regional market
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, resourcefulness and the ability and drive to work independently
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work and travel in the region
  • Languages: English (Business) and local language(s)

Preferred:

  • Knowledge and/or experience in financial inclusion, inclusive insurance and/or developing markets
  • Masters in International Development or related field
  • Experience with international development organisations, bilateral or multilateral donors, foundations and/or ESG/sustainability teams of multinational corporations
  • Strategic or operations consulting experience
  • Presentation experience (or strong desire to learn)
  • Familiarity with SDGs
