Job Description:

Provides expert advice, identifies functional/non-functional requirements, and interfaces with vendors and the enterprise architecture community to ensure the design of compliant solutions which meet business needs.

Job Accountabilities:
  • Contribute to the delivery of assigned IT implementation of strategic programs for specific vertical lines of business by collaborating with BC and IT contacts on approach for project/program involvement.
  • Take direction from enterprise/functional area architects. Independently perform or execute given assignments.
  • Utilize the group operations and technology governance process to ensure architectural design approval and that the IT architectural standards and practices are followed through project and program involvement.
  • Provide consultation for multiple areas of technology to project efforts within various IT areas and/or external service providers.
  • Identify, in collaboration with Enterprise and functional area architect, existing IT software assets for new opportunities (e.g. re:use) through project and program involvement.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of IT enterprise architecture, standards, and practices by maintaining an understanding of current and future technology developments.
  • Provide formal and informal leadership and direction to other IT program/project members and stakeholders.
  • Design and document solutions required to meet business needs and automate business processes/activities.
  • Understand and evaluate multiple platforms, software packages, and custom components to design the solution.
  • Perform critical evaluation, selection, and/or development of the software components and hardware requirements of the solutions.
  • Prepare for the development of the solution by evaluation and selection of development methods, development processes, best practices, and tools.
  • Ensure solution-related quality, performance, availability, scalability, integrity, and compliance with overall enterprise principles, policies, and standards.
  • Maintain the functional interface to other solutions.
  • Lead projects/programs from an architectural perspective being responsible for the architectural integrity of the solution.
  • Perform architectural reviews and set architectural principles and guidelines for the solution; take and document architectural decisions. Communicate these and educate team members and stakeholders on the architecture of the solution.
  • Harvest reusable building blocks for reuse on other projects/programs.
  • Support the development of business cases.
  • Lead technology evaluations.
  • Contribute to enterprise architecture activities such as road mapping.
  • Act as the bridge between enterprise architecture and solution designers, ensuring solutions align with the needs of the business and integrate with the EA.
  • Work closely with GOT enterprise functions to ensure alignment of plans (including migration plans and roadmaps) with what is being delivered (projects/programs).
Business Accountabilities:
  • Engage with the enterprise architect and coach more junior enterprise architects to enable the Group Operations and IT governance process, to provide architectural design approval, and ensure that the IT architectural standards and practices are followed throughout the project/program.
  • Demonstrate deep knowledge of relevant systems, technologies, products, processes, and procedures to be able to provide outstanding solution design services in complex programs and for complex solutions, referring the more complex professional queries to the right department or enterprise architect.
  • Act within agreed authority levels to ensure fair treatment of project/program stakeholders and provide quality customer relations to business and IT partners.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the requirements, respond to and resolve stakeholder inquiries.
